Association with Sacred Heart College's Visual Communication Department

Our collaboration with Sacred Heart College’s Visual Communication department in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu aims to equip the final year students with a unique blend of American film education and industry standards, creating a foundation that’s unparalleled in its richness and diversity.

Maayam – A Student Film Collaboration

Maayam is a short film project created in collaboration with students of the Visual Communication Department of Sacred Heart College. This initiative provided students with hands-on experience in filmmaking, blending creativity with technical expertise. Guided by industry insights, the project served as a platform for aspiring filmmakers to explore storytelling, cinematography, and production techniques in a real-world setting.

Classes at Gandhigram Rural University, Dindigul

By integrating theoretical concepts with real-world applications, students from the B.Voc Multimedia & Technology program gained a deep understanding of multimedia technology, preparing them for dynamic roles in the media industry. The program promotes an interactive learning environment where students can develop their technical proficiency, enhance their creative potential, and build a strong foundation for career growth.

This initiative is committed to empowering students with practical knowledge and industry-relevant experience, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of the multimedia and technology sectors.

Workshop with Film Director Dhalapathy

American Film Academy (AFA) and Into Action Academy (IAA), in collaboration with Sacred Heart College’s Visual Communication department, successfully hosted a workshop with renowned film director Dhalapathy (B.Sc., D.F.T.) on March 13, 2025.

Director Dhalapathy, the President of the Tamil Nadu Small Screen Directors Association and Small Screen Artists Federation has an illustrious career in film and television. His works, including Iru Malargal, Deepangal, The Pearl, and various Tamil feature films and TV serials, have earned him the Best Director Award from the California Motion Picture Council and state awards from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

During the workshop, students had the valuable opportunity to learn from the director’s vast experience, gaining insights into filmmaking, direction, and the television industry. The interactive session allowed them to ask questions, engage in discussions, and understand the nuances of film production.

The event concluded with a student-conducted interview for their academic project, providing them with hands-on media and journalism experience.

Sacred Heart College of Arts and Science, located in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, consists mainly of students from rural backgrounds. The institution is dedicated to serving underprivileged and rural youth, educating them about social rights and responsibilities, and working towards eradicating social evils and promoting community development. The college emphasizes value-based education, aligning with the Sacred Heart charism of “Education of Heart and Mind,” and promotes women’s education. 

The recent workshop with film director Dhalapathy gave Sacred Heart College students a unique opportunity to engage directly with an industry expert. This interaction allowed students to gain practical insights into filmmaking and the television industry, complementing the college’s mission to offer a holistic education combining academic learning and real-world experiences. Such events are instrumental in broadening students’ perspectives, enhancing their learning experiences, and preparing them for future professional endeavors.
